This image of Saturn, taken in 1981 by the Voyager 2 flyby from a distance of 7 million kilometers, shows a system of dark and bright areas in the planetΓÇÖs northern hemisphere. As on Jupiter, the patterns are probably caused by winds and weather, although SaturnΓÇÖs winds are as much as four times faster than JupiterΓÇÖs. Also visible are small spots similar to JupiterΓÇÖs Great Red Spot.
